About

Bridgend County Borough Council’s #MyGreenSpace campaign which aims to encourage local residents to enjoy the great outdoors, highlight what it means to them, and suggest ideas for making local beauty spots more accessible.

Councillor Hywel Williams, the council’s new Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “This campaign provides an opportunity for people to highlight the outdoor spaces that are important to them. It could be a well-known place that springs to mind such as Rest Bay, or Newbridge Fields, or it could be a lesser known gem that means a lot to you and your family.

“The reasons for why that place is so special could vary from it being a perfect spot for a pushchair stroll, a picnic, a run, or somewhere you like to relax. There will be so many reasons, and the campaign will give people a chance to shout about why they love these places so much.

Councillor Williams added: “We’d like to hear how people are using these spaces now, and their suggestions for how they would like to use them in the future. We are also keen to hear about any accessibility issues that are preventing people from enjoying outdoor spaces so that we can look to address those problems.

“As ever, we’d also like to encourage people to contact the council to highlight any issues surrounding fly-tipping and general littering that are spoiling our green spaces. These problems can be reported to the council by calling 01656 643643 or emailing talktous@bridgend.gov.uk.
