Kenfig Sands or Sker Beach to the locals is the most westerly beach and is only accessible by walking from Rest Bay or Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Best Features: Mostly sandy and flat and mostly used by locals, making it one of the quieter beaches in Porthcawl.

Lifeguard cover? Volunteer lifeguards patrol at certain times, but remember No Flag, No Patrol

Local Facilities and shops: No facilities and shop see Rest Bay or Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Great for kids? No facilities for children.

How far are the toilets? The closest toilets are a 40 minute walk away at Rest Bay or Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Parking: There are no close car parks as access to the beach is by foot. The nearest car park is at Rest Bay or Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Public Transport: Not easily reached by public transport Bus services to Porthcawl provided by First Bus. Various direct services run from Bridgend, Cardiff and Swansea.

How about pets? Dogs are allowed on the beach, but please collect and dispose of your dog’s waste.

Other points of interest: Very good for walking.

Fancy that! At low tide you can see a plaque which is in memory of all the lives lost on the S.S. Santampa and the Mumbles Life Boat. At very low tides wreckage is still being found.

Where is it? A 20 minute-walk from Rest Bay alongside the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club.
